Charlene grew up in Forest, Ontario, where she attended the local elementary and high school. Becoming a follower of Jesus Christ, as a young teen, she became actively involved in the youth group of a local evangelical church, which helped to facilitate her love for and knowledge of, God and His word.
Upon graduating high school, Charlene attended Capernwray Bible School, in both England and British Columbia.
Following her year of study at Bible school, Charlene took a year off to decide where to attend university. After four years of schooling, Charlene completed her B.A. in psychology, from Trinity Western University, in Langley, British Columbia.
Charlene returned home after her time away at Trinity Western, to be closer to her family. She accepted a position as a Children’s Services Worker, at a local Children’s Aid Society, where she worked for close to three years.
Although Charlene valued the work and experience that she gained from her employment at the Children’s Aid, she realized that this was not her calling. Charlene felt led to become involved in full-time ministry. She took a year off from her work and returned to school.
Charlene attended the Faculty of Education at the University of Western University Ontario, in 2001, and shortly after graduation, became employed at the Academy, as the Grade One teacher. Ten years later, Charlene continues to teach Grade One. She considers it a privilege and a pleasure to teach young children the full complement of subject areas, but most of all, to teach students about their Saviour and Creator. Charlene finds Grade One an exciting place to be!
